Week 2, Day 3: God's Mission To Me

Week 2 Focus: To put on the Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 2:20)

Week 2 Prayer: That Christ would reveal Himself both powerfully and mercifully as Lord, and that we might respond accordingly.

Please note that Week 2 is a very challenging week.  Our goal is that we might know the Lord more intimately, to love Him more ardently, to follow Him more faithfully.  The first few days we'll focus simply on accepting Christ as Lord, and then we'll focus on letting Him decide what it means for Him to be Lord of our lives.

Each day of Week 2 has some additional readings from the Gospels.  It is recommended that you select only one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and read from that particular Gospel for the additional readings each day.  This will help you get a flavor for what the Spirit is teaching through that particular Gospel.

Start today with this Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:5-4:5

We have heard over and over that as Christ followers we should be spreading the Gospel of Jesus far and wide, and rightfully so!  Jesus gave us that instruction just before He ascended to Heaven after His resurrection. (Matthew 28:19-20), and ANY time He tells us to do something, it is of utmost importance!  But sometimes it can get so frustrating to plant seed after seed and never see a harvest!

I was watching my oldest son play a football scrimmage a couple of weeks ago, and I started thinking about how disappointing it might be for these kids who have grown up tossing a football with their dad or their friends, when they end up being a lineman and never get to touch the football during a game. The things is, those guys who do handle the ball couldn't do their job if the lineman didn't do what their position required.  It takes each man out there, doing what they need to do, to make the team successful.

Girls, building the Kingdom of God works the same way.  We are each called and gifted to play different roles:  some are asked to plant the seed, others will water it, and still others may get to reap the harvest.  Each one is vital to the Church's success is fulfilling its job to "go and tell."

Take some time to think about what your role in God's Kingdom, and specifically Women's Encounter, might be.  Ask the Spirit to give you understanding as you think through that, and make sure to journal your thoughts.

Here are your extra readings for today.  Remember, you just need to pick one Gospel and stick with it for the week!
