Today's Scripture reading:
Ephesians 1:3-14
I don't know about you, but I like to approach my days knowing what they have in store for me. I like to have a plan; I am not a "just wing it" kind of person. When my family goes on vacation, I have each day planned out in great detail: where we'll go, what we'll do...even how much each activity should cost. There's a sense of security in having a plan.
In the craziness of our modern world, I take great comfort in the fact that God has a plan. In fact, He's had a plan since before He set the world into motion, and you and I are part of that plan. Obviously He hasn't chosen to give us the detailed outline of "when and where," but He has given us insight into what His plan is.
As you meditate on today's Scripture, answer these questions in your journal:
What is God's plan and how are we made a part of it? What is our part? (Verses 3-10)
What is the function of the Holy Spirit in our lives according to verses 11-14?
Pray today that the Holy Spirit will identify you not only to yourself, but also to the people around you, as one of God's Chosen People.
